An Inconvenient Truth

Alright. Most boring documentary ever.

But here’s what I learned:

  • 2004: U.S. has a new record for tornados – 1,717.

  • Science textbooks have had to be re-written because they state that it is impossible to have a hurricane in the South Atlantic. March 2004: the first one hits Brazil.
  • The massive glaciers are deteriorating twice as fast as they were 5 years ago. If the ice thaws entirely, sea level would rise 21 feet. The Netherlands, Florida, San Fransisco Bay – all would be underwater. The World Trade Center Memorial, that is being so carefully constructed in Manhattan, would be underwater.

  • The Arctic Ocean could be ice free in summer by 2050.

  • Polar bears are being found drowned, swimming long distances just to find ice.

  • At least 279 species of plants and animals are already responding to global warming, moving closer to the poles

  • More than a million species worldwide could be driven to extinction by 2050.

I’m talking about Global Warming – in case you haven’t caught on. I strongly urge everyone to watch the documentary. Al Gore created this documentary, and he uses images, visuals, quotes, interviews, raw data, and actual videos to illustrate the devastating effects Global Warming is having on our planet.

It is a boring documentary – not gonna lie. There were times where I just looked up at the ceiling because it seemed more interesting than what Al Gore was going on about. But there are other parts of the movie where you just sit and try to comprehend how global warming is going on right now in our world. In short - if you can watch this, if you can sit through this lecture as the science behind Global Warming is explained, it is to your benefit.

I’ve included the trailer for the movie below. The DVD will be released on November 21, 2006.
